23 of 28 potential jurors chosen

Jury selection is moving along, with 23 prospective jurors selected as of 2:45 p.m. in the Ray Joseph Dandridge murder trial.

Among those struck for cause today was a man whose brother was slain in Richmond in 1988. After an arrest was made, Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Learned Barry prosecuted that case. Barry is also a prosecutor in this trial.

Another man was struck because he wrote on his jury questionnaire last week that Dandridge and Ricky Javon Gray looked like “thugs” in their police photos that have appeared on television and in the newspaper, and that they “look guilty.“

Jury selection will resume this afternoon in the Ray Joseph Dandridge murder trial.

As of 12:30 p.m., 20 of 28 potential jurors had been selected.

17 potential jurors now selected

Two more prospective jurors were chosen this morning after another hour and a half of jury selection in the Ray Joseph Dandridge murder trial.

That makes 17 of the 28 needed for the final pool.

Jury selection will continue all day today.

Jury selection resumes

Jury selection resumes shortly after 9 a.m. today. Attorneys selected 15 for their pool of 28 yesterday. They’ll need to find 13 more qualified jurors today and tomorrow, if necessary.

On Monday, those 28 will be narrowed to 16 - a jury of 12 plus three alternates - to serve during the trial.

Ray Dandridge’s trial is expected to last all of next week.

Nine potential jurors have been selected as of 4 p.m.

Jury selection will break today around 5 p.m. and resume tomorrow morning.

Eight of 28 potential jurors chosen

Eight potential jurors have been selected as of 3:15 p.m. today.

Attorneys still need 20 more to make the pool of 28, which will be narrowed to a jury of 12, plus four alternates, on Monday.

That’s when testimony in the Ray Joseph Dandridge murder trial is to begin.

After three hours of questioning, attorneys have three of the 28 potential jurors they need for trial.

Nine others were dismissed for cause by Circuit Judge Richard D. Taylor Jr.

After a brief pizza lunch recess, jury selection resumes at 1:30.
