What life’s like in jail
An incarcerated Ricky Javon Gray tried to set kids straight when a group of at-risk youth visited the Richmond City Jail, a sheriff’s deputy testified this afternoon.
“It was basically, ‘Look where I am,‘ and ‘These bars are real,‘“ Sheriff’s Sgt. John Oast testified under questioning by defense attorney Jeffrey Everhart.
Gray was being held on Tier A-2 of the city jail. Oast, who runs the department’s program for at-risk youth, said Gray became part of his tours of the facility on a couple of occasions.
“Look, when I was a child, I never thought I’d come here,“ Gray told the group, according to Oast.
